Two years ago I wrote, “Why I love drag.” It was a cheery piece and still holds true. But today I want to go deeper into my love of drag.

Drag is a  complicated, misunderstood, complex form of performance art. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, go onto youtube and watch some episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race.)

I love millennials. I don’t complain about them, I learn from them.  By watching this video about decluttering your fantasy self, I learned a) that I have a fantasy self and b) that I shop for my fantasy self.

The concept of fantasy self is new for me; I never even considered it. And the minute I met and confronted my fantasy self I realized that most of my shopping mistakes (and we all make them) have to do with purchasing for my fantasy self and not my real self.

This is going to be the year that I find my dream jeans. The year of my perfect fabulous jeans. I’ve had it with skinny jeans, jeggings, bootcut, high rise, low rise, mom jeans, bell bottoms, stretch jeans, cropped jeans, et al.

As the days grow shorter and close in on us…I get all sorts of wistful.  Yes, there is an autumn in Tropica, but you have to live here a long time to feel and understand it. I grew up with traditional, northern climate Fall.   Memories of acorn fights, walking home after school, shuffling through gorgeous colored leaves.  Apples, pumpkins and brisk air which means: sweaters.
