I love millennials. I don’t complain about them, I learn from them. By watching this video about decluttering your fantasy self, I learned a) that I have a fantasy self and b) that I shop for my fantasy self.
The concept of fantasy self is new for me; I never even considered it. And the minute I met and confronted my fantasy self I realized that most of my shopping mistakes (and we all make them) have to do with purchasing for my fantasy self and not my real self.
As I write this, on a Sunday afternoon, a loaf of banana bread rising in the oven is perfuming the house with that inimitable baked smell of love.

As many of you know, my house in Tropica is for sale and I’m contemplating moving back to colder climes. But when I look at what I can afford…it’s not appealing, it’s rather appalling.
You either have Alaska inside of you or you don’t.
Alaska is bigger and wilder than the soul can take. The people you meet there are mythological; they all have real, tall tales to tell. The wilderness is frankly overwhelming and incomprehensible to your soul. This is exactly what I wanted.
